Flat roofs and parapet walls fail differently to pitched roofs. The membrane gets brittle, water pools where it should run off, and the first sign is often a leak somewhere that seems unrelated to the roof above it.

We assess the existing substrate, repair what needs repairing and apply a high-performance liquid membrane system over the top. That gives you a seamless, waterproof surface without the disruption and cost of stripping the roof back to the deck.

Signs you need it

  • Water pooling after rain
  • Cracking or blistering on the surface
  • Leaks with no obvious source
  • Parapet walls staining
  • A membrane roof over 15 years old

What is involved

1. Roof Inspection & Assessment

We inspect the existing membrane roof to assess its overall condition and identify any splits, lifting laps, failed joints, damaged areas or other defects that need attention.

2. Site Setup & Safe Access

Where required, scaffolding, edge protection or other access equipment is installed before work begins.

3. Roof Cleaning

The membrane surface is carefully cleaned to remove dirt, moss, mould and contaminants so the roof is properly prepared for repairs and coating.

4. Membrane Repairs

Any failed laps, splits, cracks or damaged areas are repaired. Where necessary, sections of membrane may be lifted, re-bonded or patched before coating begins.

5. Substrate Repairs

If damaged or rotten substrate is discovered beneath the membrane, this will be addressed before restoration continues. Any additional work required will be discussed with you.

6. Preparation & Detailing

Critical areas such as outlets, upstands, penetrations, internal gutters and junctions are checked and prepared to ensure they are ready for the restoration coating system.

7. Membrane Coating System

Once the roof is properly prepared, the specified restoration coating system is applied across the membrane to provide a renewed protective and waterproofing layer.

8. Final Inspection & Completion

Once complete, we inspect the restored membrane, check all repairs and detailing, complete any final touch-ups and leave the work area clean and tidy.

Price guidance

Most Auckland membrane restorations run up to $20,000 or more, depending on the area, the condition of the substrate and the product system chosen. We give you a fixed price after the assessment, and that is the price you pay.
